Pressure Filters - E-Commerce

Koi & Pond Tip of the Day
November 21st, 2008
When choosing a new pump, it is important to look at all factors. Obviously, we first want to make sure the pump will provide the desired flow. Then we look at purchase price, and warranty. An often overlooked factor is the cost of operating the pump.

Pressurized filtration is the method of pulling water from the pond by the means of a pump and pumping the water to a filter. In most cases the water is pumped directly from the pond to some type of pressurized filter.

Pros:
Allows for more water turn over with less equipment.  Allows for more compact filtration units.
Cons:
Fish waste and debris pumped from the pond to the filter get purred into thousands of tiny particles.  The filtration has a much harder time removing these particles.  The filter also has much less contact time to properly remove the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate from your pond.
